Love Songs and More
“Love Songs and More…” describes the most recent incarnation of Allen’s performing life. Allen has been playing guitar and singing for most of his adult life. Around 20 years ago, he began performing in a couple of bands around Washington, DC, playing at events, bars and restaurants. He has continued doing this around Cleveland, Ohio after he moved there in 2015, starting up a band called The Sidemen, while also taking up some local musical theatre.
Most of Allen’s “Love Songs and More …” repertoire is performed with vocals, guitar, and harmonica, and includes both slower and faster songs from many genres and periods beginning (mostly) in the 1960’s. Allen’s musical tastes are eclectic — his only criteria for song selection is if a song creates a strong visual or imaginary picture or emotion for him. However, on any given night when he is performing solo, he could surprise you with an off-list older Great American Songbook number, or a modern musical theatre tune.
